Learn more about the outlook of renewable diesel in a panel session featuring Jason Lawrence

From low carbon fuel standards to cap and trade, governments are increasingly focused on economy wide carbon reduction from the transportation sector. Experience over the past decade from California’s LCFS program demonstrates that the greatest reduction in carbon emissions from the transportation sector has not come from electric vehicles, but rather renewable diesel. Demand for renewable diesel has increased from 1 million barrels a year in 2011 to 28 million barrels a year in 2021. By 2023Q1 more than 50% of California’s truck and train demand of 3.5billion gallons was met by fuels other than traditional petroleum diesel. Led primarily by renewable diesel. Some states in the Northeast are currently considering LCFS mandates. With California absorbing nearly every gallon of renewable diesel, what will it mean for supply availability in the Northeast if an LCFS is adopted here? Is more renewable diesel production coming on line? If so, where? This panel will present an overview of where the renewable diesel market is and what might be headed your way.
